Hiring an MLM consultant has become a rising trend, considering its advantages in multi-level marketing businesses.  However, the search for a credible MLM consultant has become somewhat like stepping into a mine field.  While there may be a tad of good MLM consultants with a great track record out there, there may also be a few bad apples.  Some of these are network marketers with only a little knowledge and experience in multi-level marketing in their arsenal.  What they don’t understand is that MLM consultancy requires a great deal of experience as well as expertise in various network marketing models, not just in selling.  That is why a little tenacity is recommended in searching for an MLM consultant, as finding the wrong one can mean loss of investments.

When interviewing a viable candidate for an MLM consultant, there are a couple of red flags you must watch out for.  The first one is the lack of track records and credentials.  A good MLM consultant always have a list of former clients and their contact information for their reference.  Others even have a website with testimonials from former clients who have been happy with his or her services.  They also have a portfolio which include their credentials and experiences.  If the MLM consultant  your interviewing cannot provide you with this information, it may be wise not to consider their application.

Utmost professionalism is expected of network marketing consultants.  How he or she dresses up and how he or she deals with clients say a lot about a prospect network marketing consultant.  Does he or she arrive on time and prepared for an appointment with a client?  Does he or she dress up appropriately for the appointment?  Is he or she courteous and friendly when speaking with you on the phone and in person? Does he or she sound sincere?  If none of these traits are not apparent in your prospect network marketing consultant, he or she may not be a viable candidate.

Another red flag to watch out for is the lack of problem solving skills and the ability to ask the RIGHT questions.  There are a lot of MLM consultants who ask questions that are not aimed at providing a solution for your problem.  Most of the time, they ask textbook questions to make them sound like real MLM consultants.  If you feel like you are wasting your time answering questions which you do not feel will solve your queries, that may be a tell-tale sign of the MLM consultant’s incompetency and inexperience.   You want someone who can help you solve your problems, not add to it.
